The cancer miracle we are looking for is not a cure, it’s engagement. Dato’ Dr. Saunthari Somasundaram is the President of Malaysia’s first non-profit cancer organisation – National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM). With over 20 years of experience in cancer control, she advocates for the awareness, prevention, early detection and survivorship of cancer. The accumulation of clinical, educational, operations and counselling skills, as well as the differing experiences, has provided her with a comprehensive picture of the benefits, challenges, needs and gaps of cancer control in ASEAN. Through her TEDx talk, she wants to share her journey in cancer care and the role in bridging the gap as we all play a part in the change. She is the President of National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM) – Malaysia’s very first cancer NGO which also hosted the World Cancer Congress (WCC) in 2018.
Since 2016, she has been a board member of
– Union for International Cancer Control (UICC)
– International Cancer Information Service Group (ICISG)
– ASEAN Non-Communicable Disease Alliance
